Last year, Clinton’s baseball team turned in a scorching 24-9 record.
This year, the Red Tornadoes look for another impressive campaign despite losing a talented 2022 class.
“We should be competitive. [We] lost a huge senior class,” Clinton head coach Kelly Gaunt said, “not many returning starters, but will improve with experience.”
Grady Gaunt, a three-year starter, will be one of few returners from last year’s cast. He will lead off and play center field and short stop this spring.
Deandrae Fanshier, another returner, “has great ability if he can put it all together.”
A talented trio of underclassmen, left-handed pitchers Craig Hunter and Ayden Crumly and catcher Tate Wilhelm, will be expected to step up this spring, “three sophomores who will have a big role in how well we do,” Gaunt said.
