Hi, what are you looking for?

Elk city

9 Qs with Elk City track runner Devin Simmons – Presented by Daniel Garbarino State Farm

VYPE:What are your goals this season ?

Devin: My goals this season are to improve my personal best times in all of my events, to help my team qualify for the state championship, and to be a supportive teammate and leader both on and off the track.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Devin: My sport has taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. These are all qualities that I use in my daily life, whether it’s in my school work or in my personal relationships.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Devin: My favorite teacher was my 10th-11th grade Biology teacher, Mrs. Barta. She was always so passionate about teaching and made every lesson engaging and interesting. She also took the time to get to know each of her students individually and was always willing to offer support and guidance.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Devin: My parents inspire me because of their work ethic, determination, and selflessness. They have always encouraged me to pursue my passions and have been a constant source of support throughout my life.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Devin: My teammate, Marino, has left the biggest impression on me. He always had a positive attitude and is willing to go above and beyond to help out the team. He also leads by example, both in his work ethic and his sportsmanship.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Devin: My favorite part about being on a team is the sense of camaraderie and support that comes with it. It’s great to know that I have a group of people who are all working towards the same goal and who have my back both on and off the track.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Devin:  If I could pick any place for a summer vacation, I would go to Hawaii with my family. I’ve always wanted to go there and experience the beautiful beaches, delicious food, and unique culture.

VYPE: What is the best advice you have ever gotten?

Devin: The best advice I’ve ever gotten is to always stay true to myself and my values, even when it’s not the popular choice. This has helped me to stay focused on my goals and to make decisions that align with my beliefs.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Devin: I just want to say thank you to my coaches, teammates, and family for their constant support and encouragement. I couldn’t do it without them.
