Deciding on which college to attend can be a difficult decision to make, but for Western Oklahoma State College freshman Brianna McQuiggan, the decision was an easy one after visiting the campus.
When McQuiggan was a senior at Altus High School, she was a standout on the basketball court. It’s a sport she loves and something she knew she wanted to do in college. McQuiggan got that chance at Western Oklahoma State College located in her hometown.
“What I have loved most about Western Oklahoma State is meeting new people and how welcoming the staff is here,” said McQuiggan. “I’ve enjoyed being part of many activities that take place around campus.”
McQuiggan is a Sociology major at Western Oklahoma State, and she is enjoying her classes. She was quick to point out the attending class and keeping up with your studies is an important thing to remember when you are responsible for your own schedule and studying routine.
“Go to class, and don’t procrastinate,” said McQuiggan. “It’s not hard if you show up and do what you’re supposed to.”
Having fun and spending time with friends is on the menu as well. McQuiggan is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes she said being a college student-athlete is great. She said as an incoming freshman she was worried it would be difficult, but once she arrived, it was easier than she expected.
“The advice I would give anyone entering college for the first-time is don’t worry, it’s easier than you think it will be.”
McQuiggan said when she is not at practice or at a game, you can usually find her hanging out with her friends around campus or working on an assignment.
