Weatherford High School senior Karsen McPherson is a passionate about softball. Karsen plays as #10 for the Weatherford High School Eagle softball team as a catcher and middle infielder. Considered a veteran of the sport, Karsen has played softball for 12 years. Karsen elaborated about her journey as a softball player, “In those 12 years, both my parents by my side, and losing against good teams have motivated and influenced me to get better and work harder. My parents have shown me how to be successful at something and to not give up.”
Asked what it means to represent her school and community as a student athlete, Karsen explained, “Representing Weatherford High School and the Weatherford community means a lot to me. I am not only playing for myself, but my teammates and every little league girl who comes to all our games. I represent their parents and friends every time I step onto the field in a Weatherford Eagles uniform.”
Karsen believes that each of her teachers has shaped her into being the person she currently is. Karen accounted, “I have had many amazing teachers over the years. Each and every one of them has impacted me in many ways, and I am exceptionally grateful for them.”
Many memories are made during a student athlete’s career, and for Karsen, one particular memory stands out from the rest. Karsen stated, “The highlight moment of my career was traveling all the way across the state for super regionals; to win both games to go to state.”
In addition to playing softball for the Weatherford Eagles, Karsen’s plate is brimming with a plethora of extra-curricular activities. Karsen stated, “I am involved in Student Council, Leadership Lab, The National Honors Society, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, BancFirst Student Board, and serve as FFA Chapter Treasure. I have also shown livestock animals for 12 years through the 4-H and FFA.”
After graduating from high school, Karsen plans on pursing high education. Karsen stated, “After, high school I will be attending Oklahoma State University to major in Elementary Education.”
