Weatherford High School. From FFA to sports, McPherson first got involved in FFA in middle school.
“My dad, Andy, is a former Ag teacher so I have been involved in and around FFA my entire life. So, I joined FFA as soon as I could. I was involved in 4H for many years and tagged along with my brother when he was in FFA,” said McPherson. “I am a member of Student Council and I’m a member of Leadership Lab. Leadership Lab is a selected group of students who get to go to the schools in our district and play, talk, and encourage kids to make good decisions and be good leaders. I also play softball and run track.”
Having spent her life around livestock, it was natural for McPherson to be around animals and shows with the FFA chapter at school.
“I enjoy spending time doing fun activities with my friends. We have a blast at Chapter parties and meetings. It is also fun to meet new people in and out of the Chapter. I also really enjoy going to livestock shows,” said McPherson. “I attend livestock shows. I have helped with Show Stoppers, which is a show for special needs children. I attended an Ag Communications competition; I hope to do more with that this year. I really enjoyed the State FFA Convention.”
Currently McPherson is showing goats this year after having shown other animals in the past.
“I have grown up showing livestock animals. I currently have two doe goats on feed. Last year I showed two pigs. I have shown goats since I was in the first grade. Goats have been my favorite ever since,” said McPherson.
McPherson said her Ag teachers and coaches have been a big influence in her life.
“My Ag teachers-Mrs. Falasco and Mr. Henderson have encouraged me to get involved in FFA. They have helped me from getting livestock animals ready, to competitions throughout the year. My high school softball coaches, Coach Morris and Coach Schamburg encourage me to be the best I can be on and off the field. My travel softball coach, Coach Shireman, has given me constant encouragement and expanded my limits. My dad pushes me to do my best at whatever I am doing and is there to cheer me on,” said McPherson.
