Korie Allensworth hails from Sulphur Oklahoma where she attended high school and played basketball for the Lady Bulldogs. Today, Allensworth is a student-athlete at Cameron University preparing for another season with the Aggies.
“I graduated from Sulphur High School, but now I’m in my sophomore in the class, but my freshman year on the court because of the extra COVID year,” said Allensworth.
There are many reasons why a student-athlete selects a certain school to attend. For Allensworth, Cameron University was the right choice for several reasons.
“Cameron was right for me because I feel at home when I am here and my teammates and coaches are amazing,” said Allensworth.
During her time at Cameron, Allensworth said she has developed many great relationships with teammates and other students on campus.
“I have enjoyed the relationships I have built with people here at Cameron and my teammates, coaches, and fans,” said Allensworth.
A Business major, Allensworth is excited to spend another season competing and representing Cameron University.
“I like how competitive my team and teammates are. It makes it super fun and interesting every day in practice and in games,” said Allensworth.
Going from high school to college can be a challenge for some students. Allensworth said the biggest adjustment for her on the court was the speed of the game.
Another adjustment is figuring out what to do once they have graduated from college and are preparing to enter the workforce.
“My future plans are currently still up in the air, but I know after I graduate college, I want to be doing something I love,” said Allensworth.
Away from the gym and classroom, Allensworth said she enjoys spending time outdoors and hanging out with her friends.
