OFFENSE
Craig Hixon takes over in his first year as head coach of the Sayre Eagles. “We are a young team with good talent,” Hixon said. “The team had some success at team camp and is learning a completely new system. We expect to be a very competitive and disciplined team.” Hixon wants to be a run-first team on out of double wing sets. Quarterback Ryan Johnston (6-3, 160, Jr.) will command the offense. Johnston is a three-sport athlete and leads others with his work ethic. Tackle Bobby Kirk (5-11, 250, Jr.) is strong and powerful at his position and has also impressed coaches with his toughness and work ethic in the offseason. Fullback Ayden Hendershot (6-1, 190, Jr.) and running back Braedyn Richardson (5-10, 160, So.) form a one-two punch out of the backfield. Look for the Eagles to use a lot of misdirection and play action passes to keep the defense honest.
DEFENSE
The Eagles will switch between a 5-2 and 4-3 de- fensive front. The coaches want to keep things simple. They want their players to read and react as the plays develop. Hendershot will appear on both sides of the ball. On defense he’ll primarily appear at line- backer. He’s a well rounded athlete that can play multiple positions with a good combination of size, strength, and speed. Camdyn Richardson (5-9, 145, So.) impressed in his freshman year and is expected to have a solid sophomore year. Keep an eye out for Devin Mosser who can play in a variety of roles and is willing to help his team however he can and always gives great effort. Joining Hixon on the coaching staff is Kyle Merrick, Nick Fowler, and Patton Pugh.
