Rush Springs Redskins Basketball Preview – Presented By First National Bank And Trust

BOYS
Coach: Seth Barrett
20-21 Record: 6-12

Head coach Seth Barrett has a young and hungry group on his hands coming into the new season. “We are a young but athletic group, hungry to change the culture and expectations of Rush Springs basketball,” said coach Barrett. “We are a defense first team looking to turn defensive stops into offensive production in transition. We want steals, lays-ups and free throws. Our season goal is to get one percent better daily, not get outworked by anyone we play and grow as a basketball player as well as young men.” At point guard the Redskins will look to Jacob Caveness (6-1) to take the role of captain and give the team the floor General they need. Caden Moore (5-9) is a shooting guard and defensive stopper. His speed and quickness will set up the offense in transition. Dalton Melton (5-9) is an all-around athlete and will contribute on both ends of the floor. Wyatt Foster (5-10) could be the best shooter on the team. Ayden Stamper (5-11, Fr.) has shown he could be the future of the program. Chris Crow (5-8, Fr.) has made great strides on both ends of the court and will see his share of minutes this year.

GIRLS
Coach: David Rosenberg
20-21 Record: 5-14

Coming into the new season, head coach David Rosenberg is implementing a new system after taking over the program. “We have a lot of potential. It will all come down to the girl’s ability to grasp and execute a completely new system,” said coach Rosenberg. “Only lost one from last year’s team, so there is game experience already built in.” Senior Kaylee White will play a combo guard position where her intensity as a player will help on both ends of the court. Look for White to have a breakout season. Katelyn Fox (Jr.) will start at guard while Layla Miller (Jr.) will play the post. Also look for Myka Brady (Jr.) at guard and Lilly Ball (So.) in the paint. Ball is a reliable player who gives her all at everything she attempts. Look for Ball to become a go-to player for coach Rosenberg. Audrey Heath (So.) is a young guard who brings leadership in and out of the classroom. Shelbie Caveness (Fr.) has all the tools to be a highly effective guard in Class A. Look for Caveness to continue to improve as the season moves forward. Kimberly Fox (Fr.) is another underclassman looking to make her presence felt this season.
