Senior Bo Green is a four-year starter on the Maysville football team, with the last three being the leader behind center as QB1. Green started at the wide receiver position his freshman season before taking over at quarterback while also starting in the secondary all three years on the other side of the ball. Green has been named to the first-team all-district team every year of his career thus far. Last season, Green threw for 1,200 yards, with 20 touchdowns and added 800 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
“Bo is an expectational talent on the field,” coach Dace Lemieux said. “He’s grown every year as a player both mentally and physically, especially at the quarterback position. Bo is a very humble athlete and a leader by example. Being such a humble player, while receiving so many accolades and attention throughout his high school career is what makes Bo stand out in my eyes.”
Early on last season, Lemieux could tell Green had taken the next step with his quarterback play. Green led his teammates to two non-district victories thanks to his veteran leadership and play on the field.
“Bo was cool under pressure, even in the tight games when it seemed like not much was going right,” Lemieux said. “He’s gone through some growing pains at quarterback like most do who are pushed into the position. But he continues to want to learn everything about being the best quarterback he can be. Kids like Bo are what coaches want on their teams, I was lucky to get to coach Bo and I know his senior year will be the best one yet.”
Outside of football, Green also competes on the basketball and baseball teams. Outside of athletics, Green is an exceptional student as he will graduate as salutatorian for his class this spring.
Upon graduation, Green would like to become a coach one day. A lot of his inspiration came from his current coach, Lemieux.
“Lemieux has really inspired me a lot with his positive coaching style of coaching,” Green said. “Ever since he got here my 8th-grade year, he’s taught me how to be a better quarterback than I ever could’ve imagined.”
