Getting To Know Chickasha Basketball Player Leighanne Eaton – Presented By Rebecca Owens Metro Brokers of Oklahoma

VYPE: What are your goals for the season?

Leighanne: My biggest goal for this season is to be a leader for my team and to leave a big impact on my teammates. As a team we just want to get better everyday. Last year was a great learning year and this year it is time to go to work and use what we learned last year and in the preseason of this year.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Leighanne: This sport has taught me that you’re going to fail but all that matters is how you respond.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Leighanne: My favorite would have to be my history teacher my junior year, Mr. Widener! He is just a good person all-around. I was always happy to go to his class. He made learning fun. He has open arms for everyone and treats everyone the same. Still today, I asked him for help on assignments and he never even hesitated to help me. I will truly miss Mr. Widener after high school.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Leighanne: My whole family inspires me by their hard work, resilience, love and determination. My dad, mom and my sister are three people that I really look up to. We are all really close. They continue to push me in everything I do and never let me settle. They continue to show me what hard work looks like and what it takes. I know when I look up in those stands I will always see them supporting me.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Leighanne: Lexi Albright left the biggest impression on me. She’s one of my best friends. I got to play with her for two years and it was awesome. I wish I could’ve had more time with her. She is the true definition of a good teammate and leader. She always is doing the right thing, encouraging everyone and always pushing everyone to be better!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Leighanne: My favorite part about being on a team is that we all spend a lot of time together and get close and we all become a little family.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Leighanne: I would choose to go to Sunny Isles, Florida. I have grown up going there for vacation almost every year. I would bring my family because we always have the most fun when we’re all together there.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Leighanne: I am passionate about basketball because I’ve always played a lot of softball growing up and then once I got into middle school I started playing basketball and fell in love with it. I love it because it is a much faster pace than softball. It gets my adrenaline going and I just have a lot of fun on the basketball court in general.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Leighanne: I just want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout high school. all the people in the stands, my family, my friends, my teammates, everyone behind the scenesdoing things to help benefit us and especially my coaches. Coach Johnson, Coach Oliver and Coach Rodgers have made basketball a lot of fun for me. There is never a dull moment with those three. We always have a lot of fun in the gym and always learn a lot. Thank you guys for making me enjoy high school basketball! I will truly miss you guys!
