Cyril Pirates Basketball Preview – Presented By First National Bank And Trust

BOYS
Coach: Shane McLemore
20-21 Record: 21-6

Following a trip to the state semifinals last year, head coach Shane McLemore has plenty of reason to be optimistic. “We have three returning starters from the team that made the state semifinals last year. We also have our leading scorer and second leading scorer back from last year’s team.” The returning leading scorer is Ryan Hart (5-11, Sr.). Hart averaged 18.0 points per game last year and is a great shooter that can hit from behind the arc with ease. Another key piece returning is forward Riley Mink (6-5, Jr.). Mink averaged 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds last season. Payton Ash (5-9, Sr.) is also back. Ash is not asked to score much but Ash is a good defensive player and rebounder that plays with a lot of energy. Other key returners include Kole Carlson (5-10, Jr.) and Titan Thompson (6-1, Jr.).

GIRLS
Coach: Shane McLemore
20-21 Record: 19-6

With several key players back, Cyril Lady Pirates head coach Shane McLemore likes the makeup of this year’s roster. “We are returning four starters including our point guard and leading scorer,” says McLemore. “We also have two other seniors back this year that will be big for us this year.” Lexie McLemore (5-5, Sr.) is back after leading Cyril with 15.0 points and 4.5 assists last year. “Lexie is a great athlete and leader that can score, pass, and defend very well,” says McLemore. Stan Snider (5-6, Sr.) is also back after averaging 10.0 points per game. In the post, Skylie Thompson (5-7, Sr.) is expected to be a big presence after averaging 7.0 points and 7.0 rebounds last year. Paige Miller (5-3, Sr.) is also back after averaging 6.0 points and 2.0 steals per game last year. Kenna McLemore (5-3, Jr.) and Jenessa Thompson (5-6, Jr.) are two players expected to take that next step after averaging 6.0o and 5.0 points as sophomores.
