OFFENSE
Physicality is the name of the game for the Central High Bronchos and head coach Gerald White. “We’ll be a senior heavy team that will rely on our experience to lead the team. On both sides of the ball we will lean on our interior to wear down our opponents. We will be a team that plays with relentless effort and makes the opponent earn everything that they get,” White said. Eight starters return on offense for the Bronchos. Veteran leader Cooper Walters (5-8, 150, Sr.) will take snaps from under center at quarterback. Jonathan Mejia (5-9, 300, Sr.) directs traffic up front in the trenches from the center position and will set the tone for the offensive line. Fullback Payton Spencer (5-9, 230, Sr.) is a bruiser and leads the Broncho rushing attack and can wear down opponents in a hurry. Kolten Bethune (6-3, 220, Sr.) provides versatility to an offensive attack from the tight end. Expect the Wildcats to primarily be in two tight end sets and es un early and often.
DEFENSE
Eight starters return for Central on defense. Expect the Bronchos to align in multiple formations with three down linemen bringing pressure. “We want to dominate the line of scrimmage and be aggressive running to the ball in the secondary,” White said. Sean Klein (5-10, 220, Sr.) looks to make an impact off the edge and will bring pressure often. Levi Young (5-9, 160, Sr.) is a shutdown corner with quick reactions and instincts. Expect him to make some big plays from the secondary. Linebackers Coltin Ladd (5-9, 185, Sr.) and Cody Zimmerman (5-10, 180, Jr.) will be flying all over the field covering sideline to sideline looking to put hats on the ball. Also look for Van Roberts roaming in the secondary at free safety.
