Ardmore Area FFA Spotlight – Madill’s Holden McGahey – Presented by Oklahoma AgCredit

When Holden McGahey of Madill High School first joined the FFA, he was in the eighth grade. Now a senior, McGahey said it was his father who encouraged him to join. For McGahey, the best thing about being in FFA are the competitions.

“I enjoy going to the competitions with the Ag teachers,” said McGahey. “I am part of the showing team at Madill High School.”

During showing season, McGahey has two types of animals he shows, pigs and goats.

“My sister has been a big influence on me. She has always helped me on show days and has really pushed me to make me work hard on my show animals,” said McGahey.

Also, a member of the football and wrestling team at Madill, McGahey said he really loves being around his teammates, but he has big plans for his future in college.

“I will be a senior this year and I plan on going to college to play college football and eventually become a fire fighter,” said McGahey. “I love being with my team and having a good time and spending the most time I can with the team.”

His advice to anyone who would like to join FFA in the future is simple; enjoy what you do and get involved.

“The more you are active the more fun it is and you can ma new friends,” said McGahey.
