PLAYERS TO WATCH
Joseph Rendina-Brown – Cache Sr.
Rendina-Brown, an NEO offensive lineman commit, returns to Cache’s baseball team this spring for one last hoorah in the red and white. The third-year starter has been a crucial hitter the past two years, batting over 400 during that span, and could “possibly be a top-two pitcher” for Cache’s staff this season.
Jake Thomas – Elgin Sr.
Known by his leadership skills, the Seminole State signee stands as an exemplary representative of the Elgin baseball program. Thomas led off on the mound for the Owls last year and had a “solid” offensive season hitting in the middle of the order.
Conner Daly – Geronimo Sr.
Daly “is a great kid that works hard to be the best player he can be,” his coaches say. He will be an impact player for the Blue Jays this season.
Adrian Garrison – Lawton So.
Leading off for the Wolverines his freshman year, Garrison fell just short of the Lawton High School record for stolen bases.
Andre Amantine – Lawton Eisenhower Jr.
On and off the field, Amantine is an “outstanding” athlete and teammate. He works hard and always gives 100%.
Julian Love – Lawton MacArthur Sr.
Whether it is in a game or in practice, Julian is always ready to help his team however he can. He has put in a lot of hard work to get to where he is today.
Kason Johnson – Walters Sr.
Johnson, a lefty and returning Oilfield conference MVP, led Walters with a 7-4 record last season and recorded a 2.60 ERA while striking out 82 batters in 38 innings. At the plate, he hit .386 with 17 RBI. Johnson will be counted on in big moments, Walters coaches say, after a great offseason where he worked hard to improve his overall strength and pitching mechanics.
UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH
Colten Rother – Cache So.
Rother started at first base his freshman season. He is a talented left-handed hitter who could possibly be a very important player on the mound this year.
Ritson Meyer – Elgin Fr.
Meyer, a three-sport athlete, made a name for himself on the football field last fall as a two-way starter. In his debut season for the Owls, coaches expect the same immediate impact from him bringing his “exceptional athleticism” and “versatility” to Elgin’s baseball team. He is the sixth-ranked baseball prospect in Oklahoma’s 2026 class.
Nate Hawzipta – Lawton So.
Hawzipta is expected to start at catcher in his sophomore campaign. He progressed tremendously during the offseason, his coaches say, and will “make a splash” for the Wolverines this season.
Charlie Trachte – Lawton Eisenhower So.
Trachte led the team in RBI as a freshman. He will most likely move to the lead-off spot this season and anchor the middle infield, playing shortstop and second base. He will also figure prominently in the team’s pitching rotation.
Cash Thomas – Walters Fr.
Thomas is a particularly hard-working and talented newcomer for Walters whom his coaches expected to be an impact player in his debut season. Thomas, whose impressive baseball knowledge is ahead of his years, has plenty of experience through playing travel ball and will tackle the varsity game on the mound and at shortstop. He will also be the leadoff hitter.
UNSUNG HEROES
Gabe Diaz – Cache Sr.
Gabe is an outstanding teammate and contributor to the Cache Bulldog program. He is a three-year starter and a positive influence on all that he comes into contact with.
Nacona Tadooahnippah – Elgin Sr.
Nacona will be an important piece to Elgin’s roster this spring, both defensively and on the mound. He had a solid year in 2022 for the Owls on the mound and is a talented first baseman. Tadooahnippah is an apt, competitive athlete who “plays the game the right way” and is a tremendous leader. He will have a huge role for the Owls this spring.
Antonio Garrison – Lawton Sr.
Garrison has set the standards for his underclassman to follow. He is a leader on and off the field and has the potential to play collegiately. His leadership and selfless traits will be instrumental to Lawton’s efforts this spring.
Ross Booker – Lawton Eisenhower So.
Booker, a two-year everyday player, saw significant playing time as a freshman. The rubber-arm southpaw keeps hitters off-balance with three quality pitches. Booker will man first base this year and provide a reliable contact hitter from the left side in the top of the lineup. If necessary, Booker is also an outstanding outfielder and can play there if necessary.
Ashton Guinn – Walters Sr.
Guinn returns to the diamond this spring after he was named an all-conference pitcher last spring, but he can play anywhere in the infield. Guinn is a team player first and will do whatever is necessary for the Blue Devils to be successful this spring.
