Elgin High School softball player Keylee Ranabarger is a sophomore this year, playing in the
outfield and pitching for the Lady Owls.
Ranabarger said she loves being part of this team and how her teammates push each other
to work hard and keep improving.
“I love the heart my teammates have. I love how they push each other to be better. They
stand beside each other and lift each other up and cheer each other on. We get one another
thru the hardest parts of life, days, games, and workouts.”
Also a member of National Honor Society, Ranabarger said being a student-athlete at Elgin
HS is great for many reasons.
“I love being a student-athlete at Elgin for many reasons. I not only get to play my favorite
sport but also represent my school and town. I love being a student athlete because of my
teammates. They are my family. It’s a strong bond. We have each other’s backs on and off
the field. I love our coaches. They push me to be better and know how far I can go,” said
Ranabarger. “My favorite subject in school is math. I am pretty good at it and l love the
challenge. My favorite teacher is coach Garza. He makes class and learning fun. He’s also
pretty funny.”
Ranabarger said in her free time she enjoys spending it with family.
“I love to draw and do a lot of art. I also love to watch Criminal Minds and crime shows,
especially true stories.”
Once she graduates from Elgin HS, Ranabarger said she would like to play softball at the
collegiate level while pursuing a degree as a forensic investigator.
With the holidays approaching, Ranabarger said she is looking forward to the Christmas
break.
“My favorite holiday is Christmas. It’s such a happy time you get to celebrate Jesus and
spend time with family. I love my family’s tradition of making cookies and handing out
Cookie platters to random people and people who may be working and can’t be with
families on Christmas.”
