Cache High School junior Payton Nunley started playing softball around the age of five. Her parents placed her in T-ball, testing the waters to see if she had an interest. Nunley not only had an interest, but she has stuck with it through high school and is one of the players that helped the Lady Bulldogs to the state quarterfinals last season.

A three-year starter, Nunley said she is a utility player, and she loves being with her teammates.

“What I love about my teammates is the work ethic they have and the encouragement they give everyone. they make the game more than a game they are your biggest supporter, and they are there for you any time you need them. I play pitcher, third, and left field,” said Nunley.
 As a student-athlete, Nunley has enjoyed the opportunity to participate in FFA as well. She joined the program in the eighth grade.

“My parents had a big role in FFA throughout their childhood and it made a big impact in their life. Something I love the most about FFA is the life lessons and work ethic you learn having to take care of your animals. I love how it shows you to have such good responsibility,” said Nunley.

Currently Nunley is showing livestock which keeps her busy when she’s not in school or playing softball.

“I show lambs. I picked lambs because of my friends showed them and I thought they were cool and decided that was the animal I wanted to show and got interested in them,” said Nunley.

The junior said she would like to attend college after graduation and work in a medical field.
