Cache Bulldogs 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by Arvest Bank- Cache

CACHE BULLDOGS

Coach: FARON GRIFFIN

3-7

OFFENSE

Cache returns four starters and will lean on senior running back and VYPE top 100 nominee Connor Muldowney (6-0, 205) in the Bulldogs’ spread offense. “He is one of the hardest working young men we have. He is tough and is a leader in our program. He is a great student athlete,” Cache sixth-year head coach Faron Griffin said. Five other seniors will help bolster the Bulldogs’ offense – quarterback Tyler Harbin (5-9, 155), wide receiver Avery Lawson (6-0, 170), offensive lineman Ruben Cable (6-1, 275), wide receiver Kyree Coleman (5-10, 160) and running back Jarrius Daniels (5-8, 160). “We will be spread. We use a lot of motion and formations to manipulate defenses,” said Griffin, who will trade some size from the previous two seasons for more speed and grit. Griffin has high expectations for Cable, a returning starter on the offensive line who led the team in pancakes last season. “He has worked as hard as anyone in the offseason,” Griffin said.

DEFENSE

Most of Cache’s returning experience will come on the defensive side of the ball where the Bulldogs return seven starters, including seniors Connor Muldowney (linebacker), and defensive backs Avery Lawson, Tyler Harbin and Logan Crawford (5-8, 145). A sophomore that Griffin is high on is linebacker Gunner Tate (6-0, 175). Tate started Cache’s final five games in 2022 as a freshman. “Gunner will be a sophomore. He started the last five games of 2022, even though he was only a freshman. His brother, Hunter, was a great player for us a few years ago,” said Griffin, who will use the 4-3 defensive alignment. Christian Bennett (6-2, 190, Jr.) also returns at defensive end. “We will be fast and aggressive. Our team will resemble the team we had in 2018 and 2019 when we were competing for the district title and made it to quarterfinals,” Griffin said. “We have a great core of players returning, along with some exciting young players joining us this year. We are excited about the upcoming season.”
