RUSH SPRINGS REDSKINS
BOYS
Coach: Ivan Martinez
2022-23 Record: 4-17
First-year Rush Spring boys coach Ivan Martinez has an optimistic outlook about this year’s Redskins. “The future looks bright for this young but experienced group,” Martinez said. “We have three seniors and one junior who got to see quite a bit of playing time last year. Add to that some new players to the mix and we have the makings of a potentially pretty good team. Only time will tell but, overall, really excited about this group of Redskins!” Chris Crow has what it takes to be one of the best area players. “Good-size athletic player with the ability to score,” Martinez said on Crow. “He has a good first step which makes him able to slash to the rim.” Colten Whiteside,” an athletic individual who has the ability to make a matchup challenge
for other teams,” can shoot the rock from deep. The twin tandem of Lane and Zane Sharpe will give the Redskins an interior presence. “Both work hard and grind down low in the post, making it hard to score for others but will be a tough matchup to defend offensively.” Evan Martinez, though only a freshman, will provide a spark for the Redskins. “Great young man who works hard all the time. As a freshman, he takes a leadership role and encourages others to work and do their best. Always has a smile on his face to go alone with his ‘don’t quit’ attitude!” Rush Springs opens at home Nov. 28 against Carnegie. The Redskins will play at the Wilson Tournament on Dec. 7-9; the Black Diamond Classic on Jan. 4-6; and the Grady County Tournament on Jan. 15-20.
