Marlow High School senior Kyah Blundell has a big heart for cheerleading. Many believe that Kyah is very dedicated as a cheerleader, as she cheers for three sports: football, basketball, and wrestling. Considered a veteran cheerleader, she has been cheering since she was in the seventh grade.
Cheerleading has many enjoyable aspects and requires a lot of training and endurance. Tumbling, dancing, jumping, stunting and shouting cheers are just part of the regimen of cheerleading.
What Kyah likes the most involves her performance in front of, and with sports spectators.
“My absolute favorite part of being a cheerleader is helping to keep the crowd engaged and loud,” Kyah said. “Additionally, I also love flying.”
Many memories are created during cheerleading. Kyah recalls one that stood out the most.
“My favorite memory, so far, as a cheerleader, would have to be cheering for all of the state championships we’ve won with football and wrestling,” Kyah said.
In regard to academics, one subject has stuck out to Kyah the most, in terms of being her favorite.
“My favorite academic subject is definitely science. I find the concepts discussed fascinating, and am always interested in class,” Kyah said.
After graduating from Marlow High School, Kyah plans on pursuing higher education.
“After high school, I plan to go to college,” Kyah said. “I also plan to continue cheerleading, but I’m just not exactly sure where that will happen yet.”
