Marlow High School senior athlete Kently Davis shared with VYPE recently that for the basketball season, she is a “Power forward, and in track, I throw”. No matter what sport she’s playing, Davis wants just two things. To win and play sports in college. All of these are possible through the “determination and hard work” it has taken for her to be successful so far.
“One of my biggest influences is my coach Megan Robbins, she pushes me to do my best and wants the best for me,” said Davis. However, she also credits Coach McCauley who she stated “has had the biggest impact on me”. For reference, Megan Robbins is the Head Coach of the Marlow High Girls Basketball team whereas both Robbins and McCauley are assistant high school track coaches. Both coach in various other positions as well.
In addition, Davis spoke about two of her teammates expressing “I enjoy working with Allye Hail and Kinley Castle the most because they make me better by going hard in practice by pushing each other”. However, Davis pointed out, “I feel like everyone is pretty well appreciated on our team” for all of the work they put in.
Hail and Castle were alongside Davis during one of her favorite athletic moments recalling “The highlight moment of my career was when my team won 3rd in the Kingston tournament”. While Davis named this as the highlight of her career she went on to say “The opponent I enjoyed beating/playing the most is Comanche, they’re Marlow’s biggest rivals but they normally put up a good fight”.
Away from the court Davis participates in “YAHL and FCCLA”. She also enjoys following “Caitlin Clark on social media”. Clark is a collegiate basketball player for the Iowa Hawkeyes wearing number 22 and playing the guard position. She was ranked fourth among the 2020 ESPN class for the McDonald’s All-American athletes.
In the end, Davis was grateful to have been chosen for a spotlight sharing “It means a great amount of things, I feel it shows how good our program and community are”.
