Katy Diedrich is a senior at Marlow High School and a member of the varsity cheer team. She is also a member of the Marlow band. Between cheer and band, Diedrich has found the time to be part of the FFA chapter at school.
“I joined FFA my freshman year,” said Diedrich. “It was my brother who encouraged me to join.”
Diedrich said there are many things about being in FFA that she enjoys but having the opportunity to travel Oklahoma and meet new people is what she loves most.
“What I enjoy most about FFA is meeting people all over Oklahoma,” said Diedrich.
The senior is involved in prepared public speaking, Agronomy and she shows animals.
“I do show animals in FFA. I show pigs, but I am also in public speaking and Agronomy,” said Diedrich.
Diedrich said her mother has been a big influence in her life and has always pushed her to be her best.
“The person who has influenced me the most is my mom. She always pushes me further than I think I can go so I do my best,” said Diedrich.
Away from FFA, Diedrich said she loves being part of the cheer squad at Marlow High School.
“I love showing off a routine. It’s all of your hard work going into a few minutes, and you feel on top of the world,” said Diedrich.
Once her time at Marlow High School comes to an end, Diedrich plans to attend college and pursue a degree in agriculture.
“I would like to go to Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in ag education,” said Diedrich.
The senior offers this advice for anyone who is interested in FFA.
“Get involved and don’t let your opportunities pass!”
