Duncan’s Kennedy Noble- Band Spotlight – sponsored by Vincent Vacations

By Jayden Oyler
Meet Kenedy Noble, a senior, who plays the trombone in the Duncan High School Marching Band.

“The memory that I am most proud of would probably have to be receiving 1st place in preliminaries and 1st place in finals this past Saturday at the Elgin Marching Contest, along with many other awards,” Noble said.

Noble’s involvement in the marching band and her musical journey has left her with valuable life lessons.

“Marching band, as well as band in general, has taught me to be myself, be confident, and be more mature,” she said.

Among her favorite teachers, Mr. Haas, her band director, holds a special place. Noble said, “He as taught me many things regarding music, as well as how to be myself, how to be patient, which I needed to learn, and so much more.”

Noble draws inspiration from her sister, Mackenzie, who has pursued a career in comedy in Los Angeles.

“Someone that inspires me would have to be my sister, Mackenzie because she doesn’t take no for an answer,” Noble said.

Reflecting on her time in the marching band, Noble points to Maria Macias as a teammate who left a profound impact. “I will never forget how hardworking, strong, caring, and passionate she was,” Noble fondly recalls.

Representing her high school through the band is viewed as an honor by Noble. “Not only am I representing myself as a Duncan High School Band student, but I’m also representing our band,” she shared. Beyond her musical pursuits, Noble serves as the assistant editor for the yearbook.

“The best advice that anyone has ever given me was from Mr. Haas, and it was ‘if you’re not early, you’re late’,” Noble said. This piece of wisdom has instilled a strong sense of punctuality in her daily life.

As she approaches her senior year, Noble expresses her heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported her journey. “I would like to say thank you for everything to my band directors, my sister, and my parents because they all helped me along the way with school and band,” she said.
