Duncan Softball Spotlight – Kristyn Alvarez – Presented by Bryan Fisher Re/Max

Sophomore Kristyn Alavrez plays outfield and shortstop for the Duncan Lady Demons. Alvarez always brings a positive attitude to the clubhouse and thought this season went great. Alvarez always tries to be the best teammate she can be and accomplished that goal this season.  Alvarez had always played a lot of sports and at an early age jumped around with her interests before really falling in love with softball.

“Mrs. Aimee Greening had a little team before she passed that a whole bunch of girls that I’m friends with now played on,” Alvarez said. “She made me fall in love with the game. She gave me confidence and if I was ever wrong she wouldn’t make me feel bad about it.”

Over the years Alavrez has gotten to experience many fun opportunities while participating in softball. Alvarez said that some of her favorite memories occur at the pre and post game team dinners when she gets to hang out with her friends. This year Alvarez and the team made a trip to Branson and it was an opportunity for the team to bond and grow closer together.

“My favorite part about being on a team is getting to meet new people and be an inspiration to them,” Alvarez said. “Also getting to be a hard worker so I can go and chase my dreams one day.”

Alvarez appreciates all the hard work that her coaches and teammates put into the sport. Her teammate, KK Miller, has made an impact on Alvarez and she is grateful for the lessons she has taught her on and off the field.

In the classroom Alvarez also works hard and is thankful for the teachers she has had over the years. Her current English teacher, Mrs. Curry, has made an impact on Alvarez and she enjoys participating in class. Outside of school and athletics Alvarez is thankful for the support she receives from her parents.

“I just wanted to say thank you to my parents for pushing me to be my best and helping me chase my dreams,” Alvarez said. “They’re my biggest role models and I thank them for that.”
