Comanche’s Ava Foraker – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Like many of her peers, Ava Foraker of Comanche High School got her start in FFA when she was in middle school.

“I was a part of 4H since the third grade and became an official FFA member my eighth-grade year,” said Foraker. “I had always had a passion for animals and agriculture, but it was my older sister Emily who had always been a part of the organization who made me so enthusiastic about “showing her up,” said Foraker.

The sibling rivalry may have played a role in her desire to join the FFA, but her passion for the organization goes beyond just showing up her sister.

“I love everything about FFA. From the livestock to the friends and family you grow to love, it is an all-around great organization that builds leadership, cooperation, and sportsmanship,” said Foraker.

Currently, Foraker is involved in many activities with the FFA and is always looking to help whenever and wherever possible.

“I am the president of our opening and closing ceremony team, livestock judging, speech competitions, creed, and quiz bowl,” said Foraker. “I’m also secretary for class office, a part of student council, and I help with special Olympics.”

The freshman said she has known FFA would always play a big role in her life.

“Ever since third grade, I had shown lambs with my sister, until she graduated my seventh-grade year, when I switched to pigs,” said Foraker.

Splitting time between FFA and sports is a challenge, but Foraker also loves to compete with her teammates.

“I love being on the cheer team because I constantly have great friends who are there, and I can rely on. It pushes me to be my best, and always give 100 percent with everything I do. I am also involved with cross country, powerlifting, and track,” said Foraker. “When I graduate, I plan to go to Murray State on the rodeo team and get my first two years basics. I then plan to go to the University of Colorado boulder college to become a lawyer.”
