Thanks to the encouragement of a teacher, when Averi Carlson was in the eighth grade, she decided to join her local FFA chapter. Now in high school, Carlson is involved in many activities at school and is looking forward to adding more to her plate.

“I joined because of Mr. Roper who was my AG teacher and the older FFA officers,” said Carlson. “I enjoy meeting new people and the alumni camp was amazing. It gets you out of your comfort zone.”

Some of the activities Carlson is involved in are canned food drives, speech contests and creed contests. She’s also in the COLT Conference for chapter officers.

Away from FFA, Carlson is a member of the fast and slow pitch softball teams at Cyril High School and she’s a member of the cheer squad.

“I’m involved in softball, basketball, cheer, STUCO, Academic Team and track,” said Carlson. “I love my teams. We push each other to be better. From the seniors to freshmen, we all just want to win for each other. I also play left field in softball. We were state runner-ups this year in Class A.”

Her plans for the future include going to Oklahoma State University to become an Anesthesiologist and start a family.
Carlson said her brother has been a big influence in her life.

“My brother Kole, he is the most selfless person you will ever meet. In everything he does he puts in 110 percent. You will never see him slacking,” said Carlson.
