Cyril Pirates Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by First National Bank & Trust Co.

The Cyril Pirates kicked off their season with a win over Fletcher 75-19. The Pirates are looking forward to competing this year in Class A competition. Cyril’s basketball program has had success over the years and is looking to make another run into the state tournament this year. The Pirates have a group of seniors that will bring experience back to the floor including Jerathan Chalepah, Cody Young, Kole Carlson, Titan Thompson, Lane Cocheran, Aiden Want, JT Fowler, and Riley Mink. These seniors have played together a long time and want to make their last season together a memorable one. Adding to the experienced lineup are juniors Cash Day, Logan Lawrence, and Ayden Martin. The Pirates host their first district game of the year against Sterling on December 2nd and have a tough stretch of road games in January with matchups against Apache, Duke, Cement, Riverside Indian (Anadarko), Seiling, and Sterling before returning home against Big Pasture. In Class A anything can happen and Cyril is hoping this year is their chance to make a deep run in the postseason. Cyril most recently won the state title in 2019 with a 57-52 over Fort Cobb-Broxton and won their first basketball state title in 1938.
