Missing the soccer playoffs by one game has Chickasha High School junior midfielder Quentin Mantooth working on his plan for his senior season. 

“Individually I would like to improve my lateral movement and strength,” Mantooth said. “I have begun a lifting routine to work on those aspects of my game. As a team, we need to become better students of the game and learn to play unselfish yet assertive soccer. Morale is high. We are a young team with a promising future. Right now I’m in training for nationals with the Cosmos, my club team.” 

In addition to his athleticism, Mantooth said he wants to make sure he leaves behind a legacy of character at Chickasha. 

“It’s about having pure intentions and actions that align with those intentions,” he said. “On the field I try to give 100 percent, and I try to keep it as positive as possible. Off the field I try to treat others how I want to be treated.” 

Mantooth said that’s an attitude that has been handed down to him, just like his soccer knowledge. 

“I fell in love with the game when I was four,” he said. “I love to play. The beauty of the game and the rhythm that I feel when playing makes soccer the best sport on earth. 

“I have to give credit to my family,” he continued. “Especially my dad for teaching me everything I know about the sport and almost everything I know about life.” 

In his free time, Mantooth said he likes to listen to music, read, and play video games. He said this summer he plans to work with his dad mowing lawns, as well as working out and training for nationals. 

“That will take up most of my time, but I plan on hanging with my girlfriend and my homies a lot as well,” he said.
