Chickasha’s Jarrett Zimmerman – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Cherokee Temps Inc.

Athletes at all levels invest a lot of time and effort so that they can be at their best when game day arrives. High school athletes are no different. Along with preparing to compete, they also have to juggle school work, jobs, clubs and other organizations, and whatever else life throws their way.

Jarrett Zimmerman has worked hard to get to where he is in his career and he is focused on being the best football player he can be.

“It has taken a lot of time, hard work and effort to be successful in football,” Zimmerman said. “I only joined the team last year for my junior year and so I had to put in a ton of hard work to get to where I am now. At this point, I focus a lot of my time on football so I’m not involved in a lot of clubs or school activities, but I used to be on the academic team and I am in the National Honors Society.”

Jarrett is a senior at Chickasha High School, where he plays nose guard on the football team. Away from football, he has a number of people that have helped shape him into the person that he is today an he is thankful for each of them.

“My biggest influences are God, my family, and my coaches,” he said. “I have a strong relationship with God and he is the number one source for help when you really need it. My family has always supported me and done everything they can to see that I am the best person I can be. My coaches are just pushing me everyday to work as hard as I can and get better every single day.”

Being able to wear the Chickasha uniform is something that Jarrett does not take for granted and is proud to be able to do.

“It is a massive deal for me to represent my community on the football field,” Zimmerman said.

“Chickasha football is held in high regard in the community and I feel like it is important for me to represent my school and my community as well as I can. The community puts a lot into the program and is always there on Friday night to show support for the team, so I need to perform and return something back to my amazing community.”
