Chickasha’s Zach Kopec – FFA Spotlight – Presented by OK Ag Credit

Chickasha High School junior Zach Kopec is a member of the varsity tennis team as well as one of the committee chairs for his FFA chapter at school. But his school activities do not stop there. Kopec is part of the FCA, and he attends Canadian Valley Technology Center where he is part of the Pre-Engineering program.

“At CV-Tech I am also involved in several programs such as Skills USA which is a leadership organization. I participate in the SkillsUSA Extemporaneous Speaking competitions and have recently qualified for State. Additionally, I was selected to be an ambassador within our Ambassador Program where we promote our school to prospective students. This is my second year to be an ambassador. Finally, I am a part of the Chickasha National Honor Society as well as the National Technical Honor Society for CV-Tech,” said Kopec.

As a member of FFA, Kopec maintains a busy schedule.

“I am on the Meat Judging Team as well as compete in both Extemporaneous Speaking and Prepared Speaking. In the past, I was part of the Opening and Closing Ceremony Team, the Dairy Judging Team, and the Homesite Evaluation Team. Last year as a sophomore I qualified for State in Extemporaneous Speaking and as a freshman, I qualified for state in Dairy Judging,” said Kopec.

As a freshman, Kopec made the decision to add Intro to Agriculture to his schedule, which opened the door to becoming a member of his FFA chapter.

“While taking this class I began to learn all that FFA is and all that you can do within FFA and it definitely began my love for FFA. I am so thankful to have become a part of FFA as it has created many great opportunities for me,” said Kopec.

Kopec said being a member of the FFA family has opened many doors for him personally and has given him the opportunity to meet some great people.

“I enjoy FFA because I have been able to meet many new people throughout the state and country. I am grateful that I have developed these friendships while being a part of FFA. These friendships have allowed me to see the world differently and to see what other people’s lives are like outside of my small town. I’ve also enjoyed stretching myself to do things that I didn’t know I could do or never dreamed that I would be good at. I have learned so many new skills that will help me for the rest of my life,” said Kopec.

Away from FFA, Kopec keeps focused on his studies and tennis. Now the No.2 singles player for Chickasha, Kopec is hopeful his junior season will be his best yet.

“In previous years I played doubles, so I have experience with doubles and singles. I really enjoy playing on the tennis team because everyone is so kind, and friendly and we all have so much fun together. We truly are a team and encourage each other all of the time. I also love playing a sport that my mother also played while in high school and college as it gives us something special to do together,” said Kopec.
