Chickasha Football Character Counts – Tyren Alexander – Presented by Bank of Commerce

Tyren Alexander started playing football when he was around eight years old. Today the sophomore is a member of the Chickasha High School varsity football team and also participates in track, powerlifting, and wrestling. Coaches speak highly of Alexander’s great work ethic and his ability to get the most out of teammates.

“My favorite aspect of the sport is the team building,” Alexander said. “Having camaraderie with other players in and out of season is a special thing.”

Alexander holds himself and his teammates to a high standard and expects everyone to give full effort at all times. Aside from being responsible and dedicated to the sport, Alexander appreciates the efforts he and his fellow student-athletes uphold in their local community.

“I expect my teammates to be respectful, kind and helpful to everyone,” Alexander said. “Most importantly, we must set an example in our community by doing the right things, even when no one is watching.”

Alexander thanks his family for helping him establish his upstanding values along with his strong faith and participation in church where he leads Sunday school classes.

“My mom and dad are my biggest role models,” Alexander said. “They’ve sculpted my philosophy on life and have guided me in my Christian faith.”

As the fall season continues and district play picks up, Alexander is pleased with Chickasha’s performance thus far. Alexander said that the players have come together and are playing together as a unit.

“Other than winning games my goal for myself and my teammates is to continue to grow as young men and push one another to our greatest potential in the classroom and on the field,” Alexander said.

While only a sophomore Alexander has already begun thinking about life after high school. For now he wants to attend an in-state college to further his education.

“Although my future isn’t set in stone, I will work in a career where I can fit the needs of my community and continue to help young people learn and grow,” Alexander said. “Right now I’m leading toward teaching and coaching.”
