BRIDGE CREEK BOBCATS
GIRLS
Coach: Bree VanBuskirk
2022-23 Record: 4-20
Second-year Bridge Creek girls coach Bree VanBuskirk has a blank canvas to work with this year after losing nearly all of her starters from a year ago. “We have a young team this year with only one returning starter,” VanBuskirk said. “We are looking forward to a building season full of growth. We are a hardworking team that don’t give up.” Kaitlyn Powell (Jr.) is the team’s lone returning starter with two years of starting experience already under her belt. “Great center for our team. [Powell] has 140 rebounds last season and is looking to get even more this year,” VanBuskirk said. “She also had 20 blocks, 43 deflections, 18 steals and 140 points. She is not only a great leader on the floor, but she is very academically driven.” Newcomer Bella Hernandez (Fr.), meanwhile, will assume the starting point guard role for the team. “She has a great shot and can see the floor very well and works really hard on the defensive side,” VanBuskirk said. “We are looking forward to seeing her do great things this upcoming season.” Molly Epps (Jr.), who has made significant improvements to her game each year, will have an inflated role this season. “Molly has been a basketball player for the Lady Bobcats for the past 3 years and has made huge defensive strides the past few years,” VanBuskirk said. “She will be a starter for the Lady Bobcats this upcoming season. She is a hard worker and a true leader on and off the floor,” VanBuskirk said. Brii Dawkins (Sr.), though she will not be able to aid the Lady Bobcats on the floor, will have a tremendous impact on the team. “Brii Dawkins has been a player for the Lady Bobcats for 4 years. Unfortunately, this year during pre-season, she tore her ACL and will not be able to play,” VanBuskirk said. “Even though she is unable to play, she has been to every practice and is still cheering her team on and being a great senior leader from the sideline. Bri is the true epitome of what it means to be a Bobcat.”
