Ashlyn Jackson is a senior at Anadarko High School where she is active in many activities at school including FFA. When Jackson first joined FFA, she was in middle school.
“I enrolled in FFA in the 8th grade. That is the first year you can enroll in FFA. I always knew I would join FFA as soon as possible. Both of my parents were very involved in FFA throughout their high school careers. My parents raised hogs and cattle when I was a young girl and their tradition of raising animals has carried on throughout my life. Their influence from an agriculture perspective is what kickstarted my involvement in FFA,” said Jackson.
Jackson is a three-year starter for the Lady Warrior basketball team, and she competes in track as a long-distance runner.
“I will letter this year in both basketball and track. I am part of the National Honor Society and Fish Club. I show livestock and judge livestock. I am currently Vice President of our chapter and have served as V.P. for the past three years. I compete in speech contests; I am involved in leadership camps and community service projects,” said Jackson.
Raising livestock and having a love for animals was engrained at a very young age. Now that she is approaching graduation, Jackson is making plans for life after high school.
“I will graduate in the top five percent of my class as a Valedictorian. I was recently named Miss AHS. My future plans are to attend junior college to judge livestock and to pursue a degree in Animal Science where I plan to become an embryologist,” said Jackson.
The senior said her sister has been a big influence in her life.“My little sister, Jordyn, has been the biggest influence in my life. Although she may not realize it, she pushes me to be the best version of myself and I constantly find myself striving to be influential and a positive role model in her life,” said Jackson.
