There is someone in each of our lives that we look up to for one reason or another. Whether it is because of the profession they are in, how successful they are, or their work ethic, we see this as something we want to be in our life. Kylee Schat has someone in her life that fits that bill and she knows them very well.
“One of my biggest influences is my mom,” Kylee said. “She is the strongest and hardest-working person I know. She is where I get my drive from. She is never satisfied and is always finding ways to better put life and push herself.”
A senior and an athlete at Amber Pocasset High School, Kylee does a great job of keeping herself focused on the task at hand and getting it done.
“I can be motivated by my family and my teams but more than that I am self-motivated,” Schat stated. “I don’t like to just stay the same and I am always wanting to push myself further. In order to be successful in my sport, it has taken a lot of self-determination and time. Having to push yourself through days when you’re tired and don’t want to push yourself as far.”
Amber Pocasset’s basketball coach Bo Thomason says that the energy that Kylee brings is an asset to the team.
“Kylee has a motor that never stops,” Thomason said. “She is a kid that makes every single little play. Our team feeds off of her energy.”
Schat plays basketball and softball for the Lady Panthers. When she steps on the field or court to play, she says that for her, it is more than just playing a game.
“I love representing my school when I play sports,” she stated. “We are always taught to be respectful and have good sportsmanship and being able to show this to the community is great.”
Outside of sports, Kylee is a member of the National Honor Society, Nationa Technical Honor Society, HOSA, and the student council.
