AMBER-POCASSET PANTHERS

GIRLS

2022-23 Record: 28-3

Head coach: Daniel Anderson

Am-Po head coach Daniel Anderson has about as promising of an outlook you could ask for in your first year at a new school. The Panthers won 28 games last year, appeared in the Class 2A state semifinal and bring back an experienced core of returning starters and contributors for the 2023-24 campaign as they transition into Class A basketball. “The team is excited for some of the girls to embrace bigger roles and continue the success that they have enjoyed. This is a basketball-savvy group that likes to play ball and has a lot of high expectations,” Anderson said. Ainslee McComas (5-11, Jr.), who started both the past two years, brings career double-figure scoring, pinpoint passing and defensive clamps to Anderson’s rotation. “Ainslee has been the starting point guard for Amber-Pocasset her freshman and sophomore year. Both were very successful seasons, last year, making a run to the state semifinals in Class 2A,” Anderson said. “She is highly skilled and has an enormous basketball IQ. As a point guard, she has a career average of 11.0 PPG, 5.0 APG and 2.5 SPG. Look for her to build on those averages this year as she will take on more of a scoring role. She is one of the top point guards in Class A.” Newcomer Sadie Linn (5-7, So.), who played her freshman year at Bridge Creek, will make an “immediate impact on both ends of the floor,” Anderson said. “She has a great ability to get to the rim and create her own shot. Sadie also has a love for the game and spends her off-seasons and free time constantly working on her game. She is a young one to keep an eye on.”
