AMBER-POCASSET PANTHERS

BOYS

Coach: Aaron Garrett

2022-23 Record: 9-17

AmPo 10th-year boys basketball coach Aaron Garrett coached a better “rebuilding year” than most last season, but nonetheless looks to “bounce back” after the Panthers turned in nine wins. “I am really excited about this group, led by two outstanding seniors: Ian Guthrie and Lawson Braden.” Guthrie (6-1, Sr.) scorched opposing defenses on 15.0 points a night. “Ian has a chance to become a 1,000-point scorer his senior season,’ Garrett said. “He has been a varsity contributor since his sophomore season. He is an outstanding player and an even better person. His on- and off-the-court leadership is a key factor for us, and he is the model high school student-athlete as he excels in athletics and academics.” Braden (6-1, Sr.) trailed Guthrie with 9.0 points per game. Avery McComas (6-0, Jr.), Kale Jones (5-11, Jr.) and Brier Anglin (6-0, Jr.) scored 6.0, 5.0 and 4.0 points per game, respectively as sophomores. Jonny Kidd (6-0, So.) has a chance to produce some crucial performances this season after contributing as a freshman.
