MINCO BULLDOGS
GIRLS
Coach: Tyler Roberts
2022-23 Record: 16-11
The Bulldogs return only a pair of starters from last year’s 16-win team, but second-year head coach Tyler Roberts remains optimistic about the upcoming season. “We don’t have a ton of size, but we have the athletes and the quickness to make up for it,” Roberts said. “We are going to lean heavily on our defense and our speed to force turnovers and play fast. We will have some growing pains with the youth we have, but it should be a very exciting season!” The Bulldogs open the 2023-24 season Dec. 1 at Garber and open at home Dec. 5 against Cashion. Wing Laney Harris (5-10, Jr.)
looks to build off a successful sophomore year in which she averaged 11.7 points per game. “To go along with scoring, she pulled in 156 rebounds, 108 deflections, 68 steals and 12 blocks in 27 games,” Roberts said. “She is a hard worker who has long arms and can guard every position. She is a fierce defender who pressures the ball and causes a lot of turnovers. Kadence Gatz (5-4, Sr.) has made tremendous strides in her game. “Kadence is a senior who is one of the hardest working individuals on our team. She sets the tone for practices and games with her constant defensive effort and ball pressure,” Roberts said. “She is also one of the best rebounders on our team despite her size. She is only 5-4, but she plays like a giant when rebounding.” The Bulldogs will play in the Bulldog Classic on Dec. 7-9; the Three Rivers Tournament on Jan. 4-6; and the Grady County Tournament on Jan. 15-20.
