Springer’s Cadence Shelley – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By OK AgCredit of South Central Oklahoma

When Cadence Shelley was in middle school, she knew being part of the FFA chapter was something she wanted to experience.

“I first began my experience in the FFA when I was in the eighth grade,” Shelley said. “My sister is the one who really got me involved in FFA. She would stay up countless nights practicing speeches and growing up I always knew I wanted to make speeches of my own when I was old enough.”

That is exactly what Shelley has accomplished.

“I participate in speech contests, local and state conferences, as well as the state convention,” Shelley said. “What I enjoy the most about FFA is the friendships I’ve made along the way this year as I became the President of the Springer FFA chapter. I have become so close with many people on our team.”

While Shelley may not show animals, she has participated in livestock judging, which was something she enjoyed doing as well.

Now a senior at Springer High School, Shelley is looking forward to what comes next in life.

“I am a senior this year and I am still unsure about what my future looks like; whether I am going to be pursing my basketball career or FFA at a college level, I do not know but whatever I decide to do I will give it all I have,” said Shelley.

Her love for basketball is as big as her passion for FFA.

“What I love most about being on my basketball team is how it feels like a family and how close everyone is with each other. I’ve made some of my best friends on this team and I love how we never give up, on or off the court. My team pushes one another to be the best athletes and people we can be; it makes me truly proud to be a part of this basketball team,” said Shelley.
