VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing Plainview High School as an athlete?
Grant: Ever since I was young, I have always looked up to the high school varsity team and I feel honored to be a varsity player that kids look up to.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing baseball?
Grant: My parents signed me up for a travel T-ball team that turned into a long-lasting team, making many lifelong friends.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Grant: The camaraderie with my teammates.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Grant: Ryan Luhman told me to always play like it’s my last time on the field.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Grant: A professional athlete that I look up to is Baker Mayfield. I look up to him because he may not be the biggest or the strongest but even when people continually doubt him he always overcomes it.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Grant: My fifth-grade teacher, Jackie Matherly, and my eighth-grade teacher, Patricia Roberts. These teachers find the good in everyone.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Grant: Something that sports have taught me is being able to be a leader and finding my voice in tough situations.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Grant: A medium-cooked steak with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities
Grant: I am involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Service.
