Scarlett Galloway, an Ardmore High School freshman, stars for the Tigers varsity tennis team.
She seeks inspiration from her friends, coaches and hero, Serena Williams.
“Serena Williams, she started with nothing and she worked her way to the top,” Galloway said.
Also a member of the AHS band, Galloway believes she wouldn’t be where she is now without
the experience of learning music.
“My band director keeps telling us to strive to be our best in every aspect,” Galloway said. “[It
requires] a lot of persistent practicing, improving and people who seem a lot better than you
because it shows how good you really are.”
The same is true in tennis and band and in life. Galloway is wise enough already to seek
counsel from people wiser than her. The AHS seniors have helped guide Galloway through her
early high school experience.
“The seniors, they can give you a lot of advice,” Galloway said.
Having a naturally strong work ethic, Galloway’s pet peeve is being surrounded by low
achievers or “anyone who doesn’t try to their full potential.” She also excels in the classroom
and is a member of national honor society.
Galloway is a fan of contemporary music and often finds motivation in it. She admires the great
singers of our time, “because it is cool to see their progress.”
Above all, Galloway is an Ardmore Tiger.
“To me, it means I can show people that Ardmore isn’t just some random school, but it’s a place
with great opportunities,” Galloway said.
