ARDMORE TIGERS
BOYS
Coach: Kyle Jessie
22-23 Record: 12-13
As the 2023-24 basketball season approaches, the Ardmore Tigers, led by head coach Kyle Jessie, are preparing to embrace a significant transition. The Tigers are undergoing substantial roster changes due to the departure of eight seniors. “The loss of eight seniors will make things difficult early but the success of the JV team and 9th grade team last season gives reason to believe that a promising season is on the horizon,” Jessie said. The loss of experienced players presents both challenges and opportunities for the Tigers.
Emmett Pickens (5-7, Sr.) is a returning player who has been a part of the varsity team since his freshman year. Pickens brings tenacity on defense, making life difficult for opposing guards. Despite facing injuries throughout his career, he is poised for a breakout senior season. Taylan Booker (6-4, Sr.) is known for his versatility. He excelled as a three-point shooter last season. He is expected to take on a primary role in the offense this year, providing a dynamic scoring threat for the Tigers. Jakorian Halstied (6-0, Sr.) is a student-athlete who goes beyond the court. His positive attitude and academic dedication make him not only a great multisport athlete but also a leader and role model. Finishing off the playmakers is Demontre Calvin (5-8, Sr.). He consistently makes winning plays that may not always be reflected in the box score, a true leader on and off the court. Looking at the underclassmen, Antonio Taylor is a talented sophomore who has excelled in multiple sports at Ardmore. He started carving out a role during the summer and aims to continue his progress this season. With a focus on development and a new generation of players eager to make their mark, the Ardmore Tigers are poised for an exciting season of basketball. The leadership of Coach Kyle Jessie and the collective dedication of the team promise to make the Tigers a formidable presence on the court this season.
