Head Coach – Josh Newby
2021: 9-2
The Tigers’ defense more than held together in 2021 until the end of the season. Ardmore held its first eight points to a combined 94 total points and then surrendered 132 points in the final three games. It goes without saying, Noble, MacArthur and McGuinness can score, but the Tigers have a returning group assembled that should allow them to compete at a higher level. Head coach Josh Newby calls Eric Fields one of the most productive linebackers he’s coached at Ardmore. Fields’ explosiveness and big play potential is a huge asset for the defense. CJ Williams and Javon Singleton (6-1, 205, So.) both have experience that will mesh nicely with Fields at linebacker. Defensive tackle Gavin Lewis (6-1, 260, So.) has shown the promise to grow into a dominant player up front. Lewis was competitive as a freshman at the varsity level and has a bright future at the position. Bryce Allen (5-11, 220, Sr.) brings a presence to the edge of the Tigers’ 4-man defensive front. Zaden Henderson (5-10, 170, Sr.) has great agility and quickness in the secondary. Henderson dabbles in bull riding when he’s not on the football field, displaying his no fear attitude. He also provides a great change of pace when needed at quarterback. The Tigers lost out on the district championship in 2021 in a three-way tiebreaker. It should be another tight race in the always tough 5A-1 pairing. You can count on Ardmore being right in the middle of it again this fall.
