VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing Mangum High School as an athlete?
Hadley: I like to set positive goals for the younger girls in my town. I hope that they see me and want to work hard, and be the best person they can be on and off the field.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your softball?
Hadley: I have played softball since I was four years old and I have loved it from the beginning. I am most passionate about the lessons in life that softball teaches me. It inspires me to be the best on and off the field.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Hadley: I was named after Nolan Ryan, so he would probably be my biggest role model. It was my dad’s idea for my middle name to be Ryan. My dad is a big baseball fan, and he pushed me to look up the professional athletes of his time.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Hadley: Easily my sophomore year at the regional softball tournament. We were the four seed in our regional and ended up finishing runner-up in the tournament.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Hadley: Steak, potatoes, and green beans.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Hadley: My brother. He worked so hard in his sports, and always pushed me to do the same.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Hadley: My 10th-grade history teacher, Bruce Gahagan. He was passionate about teaching, and he taught us more than just history. He taught us how to be good leaders and good people.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Hadley: My brother told me “You aren’t letting anybody down. Nobody should be judged at 16 or 17 years old. You’re not the person you’re going to be for the rest of your life. Don’t care about what people think about you”.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Hadley: Most importantly, I would like to thank God for the blessings and opportunities He’s provided. Next, I would thank my family. My parents are the hardest workers, they do everything they can to help me succeed in sports and academics. My siblings are the most loyal and supportive people in my life. Lastly, my coaches, coach Mac, coach Binghom and former coach Genny Stidham have shown me what true support is like and countless lessons in life and softball.
