VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Kendall: As an athlete, my favorite part of representing my high school is getting to show off the respect that we are taught to give everyone. And the determination and drive that we show while playing.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Kendall: Cheer has been a sport that all of my older cousins have done, so it was expected that I followed in their footsteps. I never expected to truly enjoy the sport, but I quickly fell in love with it soon after starting cheering in my seventh-grade year.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Kendall: Being on the cheer team has shown me how to form lifelong friendships by leaning on each other when we aren’t feeling great.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Kendall: Cheerleading has taught me the life lesson that teamwork and communication are very important in everything I do.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Kendall: I am passionate about cheerleading because I have seen the effects that we can have on players by cheering for them and encouraging them to do their best.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Kendall: I look up to professional tennis player Serena Williams. I admire the hard work that she puts into her sport and how she is able to balance family life as well.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Kendall: My third-grade teacher, Heather Kirby, has always been my favorite teacher. I admire her strength, passion, and love for what she does. She genuinely cares for each and every one of her students and makes them feel loved.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Kendall: I would love to go to Greece with my aunt Tricia and my grandma Nan. It is so pretty there and we always have a great time on trips together.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Kendall: I would like to say thank you to my coaches this year Kacie Bates, Nicole Lamb and Jordan Walker. They have made my first year of high school cheer a great memory and I have already learned so much. I can’t wait to have three more years of cheering for them.
