VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Hunter: I look up to Adrian Beltre because he was proof that not everything in the game of baseball has to be taken so seriously and that it’s okay to have fun while you’re playing.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Hunter: Jared Raasch left the biggest impression on me as a teammate and as a leader. He was very serious when it came to actually playing the game, but he was a good team leader.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Hunter: My favorite memory is when I threw my first no-hit game in eighth grade. I threw seven innings and gave up zero hits and only one walk.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Hunter: There’s always something you can make or do better.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Hunter: Being able to make the high school and the whole city of Altus proud through the accomplishments our team has.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Hunter: My favorite teacher was my sophomore English teacher, Mrs. McCasland. English was my least favorite subject and she made it enjoyable. She’s also supported me through high school.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Hunter: My stepmom inspires me the most. She’s worked hard her whole life to make sure she kept her family happy.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Hunter: I want to give a shoutout to my family. Also to coach Nico Maldonado for staying strong through everything he’s gone through and still being able to be positive and a good coach.
