Navajo’s Avery Rempel – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Chad Lee – State Farm

Avery Rempel

Navajo High School

Growing up in the Navajo area, Avery Rempel remembers playing different sports as a kid, but over time she learned what sport was right for her.

“While growing up, I competed in numerous activities. For a long time, competitive dance was my favorite on top of competitive gymnastics and basketball. I have always played softball, and the older I got, the more I grew to love it. By my fifth grade year, it quickly became my first love,” said Rempel.

Being from a small town has its advantages. Rempel and her teammates are thankful for the support they receive from the community.

“I love Navajo because of the small family like community. There is constant support towards our student athletes, and we are always taken care of. Staff, parents, friends and the booster club go above and beyond for us,” said Rempel. “One thing I have enjoyed most about softball is all of the people I have met and grown to love. The friendships this game has given me are ones I will hold onto forever.”

This season Rempel will play a utility type role, moving to whatever position the team needs.

“This fast-pitch season I will be playing mostly shortstop and some center field. This is a high honor of mine to get to represent Navajo from these positions and give it my all to help my team anyway I can,” Rempel said. “A few of my teammates I think you guys should look for include Sabrina Gilbert, Emry Solis, and Foster Dunn.”

In the classroom, Rempel said her favorite subject is math.

“I have always loved numbers. I wish I could choose a favorite teacher, but they are truly all at the top of my list,” said Rempel.

After graduation, Rempel said she would like to pursue a business degree and work towards a CPA license. But first, Rempel and her teammates have a full season on the diamond ahead.

“The thing I am looking most forward to this season is officially being a leader. I have always loved to encourage and lead my teams, and this year I get to officially be one of the “senior” leaders! I hope I get to lead my team through an extra-long season!”
