Athletes work hard and put in a lot of time and effort to be at their best when they compete. Aidan Warner is a multi-sport athlete at Mangum High School and he has seen the work he has invested pay off.
“I have to work every single day to be my best,” he said. “I think the highlight of my career so far has been being chosen as a captain and a leader on my team. I am proud to hold that title.”
Warner is a senior at Mangum, where he is a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams.
While he is not afraid to put in the work, Warner also knows that there can be days when he may not feel like working or he may get in a rut. He says that it is then when he does what he can to keep himself motivated.
“I think my biggest motivation would be that I want to outwork anyone standing in front of me,” he stated. Throughout his life, there have been a number of people that have had an impact on his life and helped shape him into the person that he is today.
“The biggest role model for me would have to be coach Powers,” he said. “He has shaped me into who I am. Another would be one of my teachers, Bruce Gahagan. He taught me real life lessons and not just stuff from a book.”
Warner is thankful for the teammates that he is able to compete alongside. He also says that they will compete with anyone on the other side, but there is one team that he enjoys beating the most.
“The teammate that I enjoy working with the most is Anthony Allen,” he said. “He has a similar mindset and work ethic that makes us both better. Ayden Morrison is one of the guys that I think is underrated. He shows up every day and works without any recognition. My favorite team to beat, no matter the sport, would be Hobart because they are our rivals and it feels good to beat them everytime.”
