HOLLIS TIGERS
Coach: TRENT SHELBY
8-3
OFFENSE
After a predominantly winning season last season, the Hollis Tigers are looking to their young talent to carry the team far this season. Head coach Trent Shelby is going into his third season with the Tigers. “We will be replacing a large Senior class and will be looking for players to fill the void,” he shares, but he is confident that the void will be filled by the new and returning players who possess a lot of skills that will be of benefit to the team. Coach Shelby is looking to run his offense “run out of the flex bone, using their ground game to maintain the tempo of the game and control the clock.” Returning player Kreid McQueen (6-1, 185) will be a sophomore this season, who functions as a full back and tight end. Last season, he had 120 rushing yards and one touchdown. Joining McQueen will be full back/ tight end Xavier Cervantes (5-8, 190, Jr.). Up front, offensive lineman Wyatt Warren (6-2, 200, So.) and Lucas Morgan (6-3, 285, Jr.) will be blocking for quarterback Lincoln Bronn (5-9, 175, So.) and running back Parker Sykora (6-1, 170, Jr.).
DEFENSE
Linebackers Xavier Cervantes and Kreid McQueen are the two returning defensive starters this season, presenting a combined 129 tackles and two fumble recoveries. Joining Cervantes and McQueen at linebacker is sophomore JV Vasquez (5-8, 175). Coach Shelby is looking to “base out of a 3-2 Defense, with a commitment to stopping the run,” with nose guard Tim Vasquez (5-8, 175, Sr.), safety Parker Sykora, and center Ricky Lara (5-9, 175, Sr.) working together to shut down the offense.
