Parker Sykora

Hollis High School

Hollis High School junior Parker Sykora is a first baseman and pitcher for the varsity baseball team and he’s a member of the FFA chapter at school. 

Baseball is a passion for Sykora, and he loves being around his teammates. The team is ranked No. 17 in Class A with a record of 26-4 as the end of April approaches. 

“They are like brothers to me. I wouldn’t be anywhere without them by my side,” said Sykora. 

Another group Sykora enjoys spending time with are the members of the FFA chapter at HHS. Sykora first joined FFA in junior high. 

“I got involved in FFA when I was in 8th grade. My ag teacher Perry Shelby really convinced me to join FFA. Just being around all my friends and getting to do all the activities that come along with being in it is what I enjoy the most,” said Sykora. 

A member of the shooting team, Sykora has become skilled with the shotgun and is one of the top shooters in the area. Sykora said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try. 

“I would definitely tell them to join FFA, it is a great organization that can help you with countless of things such as public speaking, teamwork skills, and personal enjoyment. You can meet so many people and make a lot of friends too,” said Sykora. 

One person he looks up to is his mother. She has been a big influence in his life and Sykora said she is in inspiration for him to follow. 

“My mom has definitely been the biggest influence in my life, watching her do what all she does for me, and my family makes me so thankful and makes me the hard worker I am today,” said Sykora. 

After high school comes to an end, Sykora plans to continue his education and pursue a career in the outdoors. “When I graduate, I plan on attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University and getting my bachelor’s degree and become an Oklahoma Game Warden,” said Sykora.
