Parents have a lot of responsibilities when it comes to their children. They take care of them and help them learn new things.
But another important thing that has to be done is to decide what school their kids will attend. Andi Stoops and her husband, Bruce, are beyond happy with the school they chose for their kids.
“I grew up in a much larger community,” Stoops said. “And, although I love my hometown, I couldn’t imagine a better place than Hobart to raise my kids. The school is large enough that they have opportunities but small enough that we know everyone. The people in Hobart are what make it special.”
The Stoops have four children, two that have graduated from Hobart and two that currently attend. Their oldest, Hannah, played basketball and softball as a student at Hobart, while their son Wyatt played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. Blaine is a sophomore and he plays basketball and is on the golf team. And their youngest, Rhett, is in sixth grade. He plays football, basketball, and baseball.
While each of her kids was or is involved in athletics at Hobart, Andi says that competing also helps them off the field or court.
“I want my kids to grow up to be well-rounded people,” she said. “Sports are important to them, and me, but I want them to excel in other areas as well. Their athletic careers only make up a part of who they are. I try to be as involved as I can with my kid’s sports activities. However, I know very little about sports. I’m a whiz at running a concession stand though.”
When she is not playing the role of sports mom, Stoops is a first-grade teacher. She says that most of her free time usually involves some kind of sporting event, but if not, she likes to read, bake, and camp with her family.
