Kaydence Rencher is a senior at Altus and plays setter for the Lady Bulldog volleyball team. Rencher has become a team leader over the course of her career and coaches speak highly of her dedication to the sport and team. In the offseason Rencher worked with incoming freshmen to help them prepare and adapt for the upcoming season. Rencher said she has been working on her mental approach to the game and has tried to take on more of a leadership role this season.
“I hope to influence a more positive attitude on others when it comes to the game,” Rencher said. “In the past years I haven’t had the best attitude and I hope that changed and the underclassmen take after that.”
Volleyball has always been a big part of Rencher’s life. Rencher first began playing when she was six or seven years old and she appreciates all the friendships she has been able to form over the years.
Although Rencher can play multiple roles for the Lady Bulldogs she said she is most comfortable at setter because she feels more in control of the plays.
For Rencher some of her best memories have occurred off the court and she appreciates the little moments she gets to spend with teammates. The time spent on bus rides back and forth from games and tournaments are the little fond memories that Rencher will keep close to her heart. The bus ride home after beating Erik served as an especially fun night for Rencher.
One person that Rencher appreciates outside of volleyball and often turns to for support and advice is her older brother, Slade. As Rencher begins wrapping her final year at Altus she is planning ahead for the future. After high school Rencher plans on attending an art college where she will pursue her passions and continue her volleyball career at the next level.
